Twice voted “best city in the world” by Travel and Leisure magazine, San Miguel is the epitome of a place where the old world meets the new.
Filled with cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, it is easy to walk almost everywhere in the Centro of the city (but we recommend a sturdy pair of shoes). Cabs and Ubers are also a very safe and affordable option for those who prefer not to walk. Below are some of our favorite places to eat and see.
Food + Drink
Dinner:
Aperi - Quebrada 101, continental cuisine
Moxi Restaurant - Aldama 53, by Enrique Olvera in the Hotel Matilda
Bistro Antonia - San Francisco 57, a rooftop restaurant with a great sunset
The Restaurant - Diez de Sollano 12 - don’t sleep on the secret bar menu
Fatima/Casa Blanca-Juarez No. 7 Centro - if you’re looking to switch it up from Mexican fare, the most delicious Mediterranean option in the city (Fatima is the roof and Casa Blanca is the lower level).
Breakfast & Lunch
Rustica - Salida a Celaya 34, a bit off the beaten path but the most delicious breakfast, smoothies & pastries
El Pegaso - Corregidora 6, our favorite for a traditional Mexican breakfast (think juevos rancheros, chilaquiles)
Restaurante del Parque at the Belmond - beautiful outdoor space, do not miss the bread
Taco Lab (and the rest of the “Food Court”) at Doce 18 Concept House, Calle Relox 18 - hip mix of food, please note this is indoors
Don Taco Tequilas, Calle del Dr. Ignacio Hernandez Macias 83
The Organic Market, Ancha de San Antonio 32--for smoothies and the like
